I’m Ragna –
singer, performer,
and voice mentor.
I love music, traveling, and the people I meet along the way.
My roots are at the piano. I studied at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, and my most beloved teacher, Elena Lapitskaja, brought me to Berlin. For ten years I studied with her — and stayed at her home whenever I came to Berlin for lessons. She was my musical role model, my mentor, and in a way a little bit like a mother to me. She is the reason I moved to Berlin.

Then came tendonitis. An illness that forced me to pause — and showed me there was something else inside, wanting out. My voice.
Voice training changed my life. I experienced what it means to speak with the whole body, to sing with the body, to let the body resonate. It opened up an entirely new, holistic way into music for me.
At the piano, I had great expressive power — and just as great a case of stage fright. With singing, something shifted. The stage fright was still there, but on stage, I was at home in myself.
And so I made my way: acting and vocal training, my own songs, my own programs.
The stage has remained my home.
I’ve been at home there in many roles: as a pianist and accompanist, as a singer, as a performer, solo and in duos. I accompany myself and other singers on piano and accordion.
Dance came later — at an age when dancers usually stop. I trained in Butoh and went on stage as a dancer.
My goal has always been to touch people. So they’re allowed to cry — and laugh in the very same moment.

As a performer, I’ve taken on many roles – solo, in duos, with dance and spoken word. With Kuhn Li, I tell the tragicomic story of the delightful Tsching-Luitscha: an acrobatic pantomime in an invented language you somehow understand word for word.

Curiosity, open space,
and the sea.
I’ve always been deeply curious, drawn to the unfamiliar. I went to India and studied South Indian music. I traveled to South Africa and to Myanmar when tourists were still rare there, and to Annapurna Base Camp – one of the greatest nature experiences of my life.
These days I usually don’t travel as far. I love discovering places where I’m on my own, hiking alone through the mountains. I can do that for days on end. And I love the sea.
Every crisis in my life has led to change – and to dreams I finally made come true.
Today I live between Chania on Crete, Berlin, Cologne, and France. On Crete, I’m slowly finding a new home – and I always love coming back to Germany. Maybe that’s what Heimat really means: not one place, but many.

Your voice is more than you think.
What I’ve experienced with my own voice, I want to pass on. Because today I know: the voice I thought was simply mine was only a shadow of what was really inside me.
It is close to my heart to work with women who want to touch others with their voice. Women who feel there’s more in them – who long to free their natural voice and truly let it be heard. So they no longer hold themselves back. So they take up space and stand up for themselves.
I am a feminist, and I believe in the power of the female voice: on stage, in conversation, in life.
Now we know each other a little.
